โ›ฉ A Note From the Developer

A few years ago, a turning point in my life led me to start visiting shrines and temples.

At first, I knew very little about them. But as I kept visiting, strange, meaningful experiences began to accumulate โ€” connections that felt too precise to be coincidence, and new realizations with every visit.

I became convinced that there is something about shrines and temples that can't be explained by logic alone.

The idea for โ€œKaminaviโ€ began with Ehomairi โ€” visiting a shrine in your lucky direction for the year. I simply wanted an app that could connect to my own lucky direction in real time. That simple wish is where development began.

At the same time, I felt something was missing: a tool to help people feel closer to shrines and temples. Where should I go? How should I pay my respects? Which shrine suits me? There wasn't an app that answered those questions.

So I built โ€œKaminaviโ€.

I want people to feel that shrines and temples are closer to them โ€” so that anyone can visit comfortably, even without a special occasion, prior knowledge, or experience. I hope โ€œKaminaviโ€ can be that first step, supporting your visit. That's why we hold onto โ€œquiet, thoughtful careโ€ and โ€œan experience anyone can use with easeโ€ every day, and will keep striving to improve.

I hope that, in some small way, this can help carry the culture of shrines and temples โ€” protected by generations before us โ€” forward to the next.

Lucky directions, daily fortune, an AI worship concierge โ€” everything is designed to deliver โ€œa visit that fits your dayโ€. We don't compromise on quality. Because this service handles something as precious as Japan's shrine and temple culture, we keep building it carefully, one piece at a time.

We're still very much a work in progress, growing together with your feedback along the way, and we'd be grateful for your patience and support.

We'd be glad to grow Kaminavi together with you.

Still a Work in Progress

Kaminavi is still under active development, and we plan to keep adding and improving features based on your feedback.

We currently cover about 90,000 shrines and temples. Japan is estimated to have around 160,000 in total, and we'll keep expanding our coverage throughout 2026.

If you have any requests or notice something we could improve, please let us know through the โ€œConciergeโ€ on the map screen โ€” just tap โ€œAsk a questionโ€. Your feedback reaches our development team directly.
