Fujisan Hongu Sengen Taisha (Fujisan Hongu Sengen Grand Shrine)

Overview

As the head shrine of approximately 1,300 Sengen shrines nationwide, it enshrines Mount Fuji as its sacred body. The enshrined deity is Konohanasakuya-hime. Behind the shrine buildings lies Yutamago-ike Pond (a Special Natural Monument), where the clear, cool groundwater of Mount Fuji continues to flow to this day. The area from the 8th station of Mount Fuji upwards is considered part of the shrine's sacred grounds.
