Kegon no Taki (Kegon Falls)

Overview

Kegon no Taki is a magnificent waterfall where the Oshiri River, flowing from Lake Chuzenji, plunges approximately 97 meters down a sheer cliff. It is ranked as one of the "Three Famous Waterfalls of Japan" alongside Nachi Falls and Fukuroda Falls. The site is a National Scenic Spot and part of the Special Protection Zone of Nikko National Park. Visitors can descend to a viewing platform directly in front of the waterfall basin via a 100-meter elevator (Kegon no Taki Elevator), allowing one to experience the overwhelming spray and thunderous roar throughout the four seasons. The scenery in winter, where the Twelve Falls turn into ice falls, is also exceptional.
