Overview

An ancient temple nestled on the slopes of Mount Kurama, where it is said that Minamoto no Yoshitsune (known as Ushiwakamaru) underwent ascetic training. The Kongoshō (Diamond Floor) in front of the main hall (honden) is believed to be a place where cosmic energy converges and is known as a symbol of spiritual power. The Uesaku Matsuri (Uesaku Festival) is held on the night of the full moon in May, and the Takewari Kaishiki (Bamboo Cutting Ceremony) is held in June.
