Nachi no Taki (Hiraki Shrine)

Overview

With a drop of 133 meters and a width of 13 meters, it is one of the three most famous waterfalls in Japan and the tallest single waterfall in the country. Located within the grounds of Hiraki Shrine (a sub-shrine of Kumano Nachi Taisha), it has been an object of nature worship since ancient times. It is a component of the UNESCO World Heritage site "Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range."
