Shindo no Taki (Shindo Falls)

Overview

Consisting of two falls—the male waterfall (83m drop) and the female waterfall (93m drop)—this site has been selected as one of the 100 famous waterfalls of Japan. The name 'Shindo' (Vibration) originates from the sensation that the surroundings vibrate due to the massive volume and powerful force of the male waterfall's flow. Located upstream of the Kusu River in the Kusuike Gorge, the falls can be viewed along with the Kuju Mountain Range from the Kokonoe Yume Ohashi (Kokonoe Dream Great Suspension Bridge), which opened in 2006 as Japan's longest pedestrian-only suspension bridge (390m long, 173m high).
