Shomyodaki Falls

A magnificent waterfall with a 350-meter drop, recognized as Japan's largest four-tiered great waterfall. It is a famous site where the Shomyo River plunges from the Midagahara plateau of the Tateyama mountain range.
Overview
Boasting a 350-meter drop, this great waterfall consists of four tiers (70m, 58m, 96m, and 126m). The Shomyo River falls suddenly from the Midagahara plateau of the Tateyama mountain range and flows into the Joganji River. It is designated as a National Scenic Spot and a Natural Monument. During the spring snowmelt period, the 'Hannoki Falls' appears on the right side of the main falls with a drop of approximately 500 meters, creating a breathtaking view of two great waterfalls (this is not officially certified as Japan's largest due to its seasonal nature).
