History

It is traditionally known as the Chujōhana Chōdai Myōjin or Nanatsusha Shrine, one of the three shrines in Ōno District, Mino Province. It was enshrined as the guardian deity of Nagase Village. Successive lords of Takashi Castle and Nagase Castle revered the shrine, and shrine monks served it as the bodhi temple of Nagayama-ji. Although the shrine was burned down during the civil unrest of the Genkō and Kenmu periods, its status as an ancient shrine is evident from its inclusion in old records.
