日本三大三門の一つと称される非常に立派な門があり、門の先には天へ続くような長い石段（菩提梯）が続いています。門の近くには観光案内所や公衆トイレがあり、周辺には駐車場も整備されています。冬期は積雪や路面凍結に注意が必要ですが、ライブカメラで境内の混雑状況を確認することも可能です。
