History
The date of founding is unknown, but Kawara Shinsuke is said to have been a sacred domain of Setai Hachiman Jingu (Setai Hachiman Grand Shrine), where a Hachiman shrine was enshrined. It is said that in ancient times, when Wada Yoshimori took refuge at Wada Mountain, he prayed at this shrine and built the current shrine buildings on the present site. In 1880 CE (Meiji 13), it was renamed Hachiman Shrine, and in 1907 CE (Meiji 40), it merged with another Hachiman shrine.
