Niwa Shrine
〒275-0026 千葉県習志野市谷津1丁目23−3
Located in Yatsu, Narashino City, Chiba Prefecture, this shrine enshrines Himemi-no-Mikoto (the young sun goddess), one of the four deities worshipped at Niwa-Torime Grand Shrine, the Ichinomiya (chief shrine) of Kii Province.
History
Originally established as the Ujigami (local guardian deity) of the former Yatsu Village in 1655 CE (Shohei 4 / Meireki 1). At the end of the Edo period, several deities were merged here. In 1918 CE (Taisho 7), the village's Inari Shrine, Mizu Shrine, and Hiruko Shrine were also amalgamated into this site.

A compact shrine located in a residential area, complete with a parking lot. The carvings on the main hall (honden) are impressive, and the precincts are kept clean. Goshuin (calligraphic seal stamps) can be obtained a few times a month when the shrine office opens; check Instagram or similar platforms for opening dates.
