黄金の釈迦涅槃像を拝観でき、鉄製の扉や小窓から覗くような形で拝顔します。境内には斎藤茂吉の墓や歌碑があり、雪景色も美しいと評判です。駐車場は寺の前にあり、本堂のすぐ右手にある社に涅槃像が安置されています。
