〒043-0102 北海道爾志郡乙部町元町254
A shrine with a history rooted in gratitude for the divine power of an ancient laurel tree.
Enshrined deities
Hachiman Okami, Empress Jingu
History
The shrine's origins date back to when those who had fled after a military defeat enshrined the deity Hachiman Daimyojin to express their gratitude for the divine power of an ancient laurel tree. The shrine buildings were constructed in 1599 (Keicho 6). It is said that during the Hoeyo period (1704–1711), clear water sprang up near the main hall through prayer. During the Meiji era, several shrines were merged here, and it became a religious corporation in 1946 (Showa 21).
