芦ノ湖の湖畔に位置し、水中鳥居や周囲の豊かな自然、静かな森の雰囲気が特徴です。箱根園から徒歩で参拝する場合は、舗装されていますが路面がデコボコしている箇所があるため注意が必要です。船やモーターボードを利用した参拝も可能で、早朝の参拝が推奨されています。
