It was donated and constructed in 1650 CE (Keian 3) by Sakai Tadaatsu, the first lord of the Wakasa Omi Castle domain. Although it was destroyed by fire in 1815 CE (Bunka 12), it was rebuilt in 1818 CE (Bunsei 1) by the tenth lord, Sakai Tadamitsu.
