History
During the Kounin era, the governor of Iyo Province enshrined a branch spirit from Fushimi Inari Taisha in Yamashiro Province. In the 3rd year of Nihhei (1153 CE), the estate was officially recognized by the imperial court. During the Edo period, it served as a prayer site for the Ozu and Niitani domains. Notably, it returned to pure Shinto practices 220 years before the Meiji Restoration. A romon (gatehouse) was built in the 2nd year of Kanbun (1662 CE), and the shrine was elevated to the status of a Kensha (prefectural shrine) in the 8th year of Showa (1933 CE).
