A Tendaishu (Tiantai) Buddhist temple located in Utsunomiya City, Tochigi Prefecture. It is also known as Narita Fudozon. It is designated as the 19th site in the Northern Kanto 36 Fudozon Pilgrimage and the 4th site in the Tochigi 13 Buddhas Pilgrimage.
History
It is traditionally said to have been founded in 857 CE by Ennin (Daiji Daisai). Within the temple grounds are enshrined a seated statue of Daiji Daisai carved from white sandalwood that Ennin brought back from Tang China, as well as a Buddhist bell (bonsho) said to have been established by the Utsunomiya clan.
