History
In 1877 CE (Meiji 10), the Shin River was completed, ensuring safe passage for ships. In response to the strong desire of local residents, the Sumiyoshi Daimyo was invited from Sumiyoshi Taisha in Naniwa. The shrine buildings were completed in 1878 CE (Meiji 11). Although they were damaged by fire during the Great East Asian War, the buildings were restored in 1964 CE (Shōwa 39). In 1998 CE (Heisei 10), the shrine marked its 120th anniversary of founding and completed various commemorative projects, including the construction of the Oishi Torii gate and the development of the shrine grounds.
