A Zen temple founded in 1282. It is famous for its sanmon (main gate), butuden (Buddha hall), boujou (abbot's quarters), bonshou (Buddhist bell), and shariden (relic hall).

Located near Kita-Kamakura Station, this temple features a vast grounds with a quiet and solemn atmosphere. The grounds follow a slope, and steep stone steps and inclines appear as you move deeper inside. There are many highlights, including the National Treasure Hongshou (Great Bell), the Buddha hall, and the Bentendo (Hall of the Bodhisattva Kannon). Depending on the season, visitors can enjoy worship while appreciating plum blossoms, autumn foliage, and the clear air.
