In 1767 CE (Meiwa 4), it was relocated to Kawagoe, where the current shrine buildings were constructed. However, in 1867 CE (Keio 3), it returned to Maebashi and was rebuilt in 1871 CE (Meiji 4). During the Meiji period, Tenmangu and Nagabe Shrine were merged into it.
