Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen Shrine - Zuishinmon Gate

The shrine's origins date back to the 40th year of Emperor Keiko's reign, when Yamato Takeru established a shrine during his eastern expedition. In the 7th year of the Enryaku era, a shrine building was constructed at the current site by Ki Toyonaga. The current main hall was built in the 1st year of the Genroku era through the donation of Torii Tosamori Naritoshi. During the mid-Edo period, the shrine became a central hub for mountain climbers due to the popularity of the Fuji-kyo religious movement. It was renamed 'Fujiyama Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji-dake Shrine' in the Meiji era and adopted its current name in 1946.
