History
Founded during the reign of Empress Suiko as a place of Buddhist practice on Oshima Island, it was later relocated to serve as the head temple of Bekku. The temple was destroyed by fire during the campaigns of Chosokabe Motochika but was later rebuilt by the Nankobou section during the era of Tokugawa Takatora. In the Meiji era, it separated from Bekku to inherit the status of a pilgrimage station and now operates as a branch temple of the Myoumon-ha branch of Shingon Buddhism.
