Established in 1878 as a branch of Komyoji in Kamakura. It was relocated to its current location in 1888, and in 1899, it was officially recognized as an independent temple by Shuntatsu Miyashita. In 1924, the shoin (study) and guest hall, which were relocated from the Imperial Villa in Odawara, were registered as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property.
