In 1876, the shrine was moved to its current location. However, most of its structures were destroyed during the Great Air Raid on Nagoya in 1945. In 1953, after the war, the shrine was revived by relocating the spirit house of Lady Haruhime, the principal wife of Tokugawa Yoshinao, from Kenchu-ji Temple to serve as the main hall.
