The temple burned down in a fire in 1599 CE (Keicho 4) but was rebuilt by order of Toyotomi Hideyori. It later received repairs and donations from the Owari Domain. The temple was destroyed again in the air raids of 1945 CE (Shōwa 20) and was rebuilt after the war on a reduced scale due to the impact of post-war recovery projects.
