However, with the movement to separate Shinto and Buddhism in the late Edo period, it was renamed Oe Shrine in 1867 CE (Keiō 3). In the Meiji era, the Shinguji Temple and Bishamondo Hall were abolished, and in 1907 CE (Meiji 40), Ko-gi Shrine and Ueno-miya Shrine were merged into it.
