Later, due to the syncretism of Shinto and Buddhism, it came to enshrine Bishamonten (Vaisravana) and was known as the 'Kino no Sha' (Northwest Shrine). However, following the Separation of Shinto and Buddhism movement at the end of the Edo period, it was renamed Oe Shrine in 1867 CE (Keio 3). In the Meiji era, the Jingūji (Shrine Temple) and Bishamondō (Hall of Bishamonten) were abolished, and in 1907 CE (Meiji 40), Ko-gi Shrine and Ueno-miya Shrine were merged into it.
