Oomachi Yakumo Shrine
鎌倉市大町1丁目11−20
Located in Oomachi, Kamakura City, this shrine was formerly known as Kamakura Gion Shrine or Gion Tenno Shrine. It is renowned as a shrine for warding off misfortune and attracting good luck, and is affectionately called 'Yakumo-san' or 'O-Tenno-san' by locals.
History
It is said that the shrine originated during the Eihō era when Minamoto no Yoshimitsu invited the enshrined deity of Gion Shrine in Kyoto to Kamakura to quell an epidemic. During the Ōei era, a shrine from the Satake clan's residence was merged into this site and came to be known as Satake Tenno. The shrine buildings collapsed during the Great Kanto Earthquake but were rebuilt in 1930.

A serene shrine nestled quietly within a residential neighborhood. The grounds feature a treasure hall displaying mikoshi (portable shrines) and donated items, and also serve as the entrance to a hiking course leading to Gion Mountain.
