徳川家霊廟の近く、不動坂を登った場所に位置し、車でのアクセスも可能です。かつて女人禁制の際に女性が参籠した場所として唯一現存する建物で、拝観は無料で冷たいお水も提供されています。周辺には駐車場やトイレがあり、徳川家の御朱印も授与されています。
