History
This Nichiren sect temple was founded by Nichi-so of Ben'e-in, a close relative of the Moe clan. It was formerly a branch temple of Myoman-ji of the Kekkaho sect. It is known as the memorial site where more than 30 people, including members of the Moe clan and the couple Tomigaki Yasutoshi and his wife, committed suicide when attacked during the Ikkō-ikki (Ikkō peasant uprisings). In 1941 CE (Shōwa 16), it joined the Nichiren sect through a merger of the Nichiren, Kekkaho, and Honmon sects.
