History
In 1271 CE (Bun'ei 8), Nichiren saved the wife of Sumida Goro Tokimichi from a difficult childbirth using a protective amulet, leading Tokimichi to become a devotee. Later, a father and son who were direct disciples of Nichiren established the temple. In 1289 CE (Kōan 2), Nichiren bestowed the mountain and temple names, and the Sado Ajari Hinomoto served as the founding abbot. After being destroyed by war, the temple was relocated and rebuilt in 1384 CE (Jitoku 1) at its current location in Shinso.
