During the Kamakura period, it served as the general guardian shrine (sōchinkami) for the seven villages of Ozawa District. In the Edo period, it became the guardian shrine of Kuzu Village. Although the shrine buildings were destroyed by fire during the Sengoku period, the structures were rebuilt in 1679 by Nakane Masayoshi. In 1728, the main hall (honden) and worship hall (haiden) were constructed at the request of the villagers. The current main hall was reconstructed in the late Edo period and is designated as a cultural property of Kawasaki City.
