History

During the Tenpyo era, the guardian Shugyoku Taro Tokitada enshrined the deity to pray for the safety of the nation and the blessing of children. Later, it became a shrine under imperial decree by Emperor Daigo. During the fall of Odawara Castle in 1590 CE (Tensho 18), the deity's rank, imperial edicts, and other historical records were lost. Since then, the deity has been venerated under the title Eisan Dai Myojin (Great Deity of Easy Childbirth) or Koyaku Dai Myojin (Great Deity of Easy Childbirth) as a guardian deity for safe delivery.
