A temple of the Kenchoji branch of the Rinzai school of Zen Buddhism, enshrining Bishamonten (the Buddhist guardian deity of the north), one of the Seven Lucky Gods of Ome.
History
It was founded as a Jodo sect temple by Sojo Daikojo of the Ichien-sha lineage. It is said that the second abbot, Kakurin, converted it to the Rinzai school. In 1649 CE (Keian 2), the temple received a letter of certification from the Edo shogunate granting it a temple estate of 1 koku and 7 to of rice. During the Meiwado era, the current main hall was rebuilt by the monk Daiyu.
