History
Early in the Shōwa era, the temple was established in 1925 CE (Taishō 14) in Ajiro-cho as the Jodo Shinshu Hongwanji-ha Yokohama Church. In 1954 CE (Shōwa 29), it was officially named Senshoji, and in 1963 CE (Shōwa 38), it relocated to its current location. In 1945 CE (Shōwa 20), the church was completely destroyed by fire during the Yokohama Great Air Raid, and the first abbot died in the war. After the war, activities continued in a temporary main hall.
