The date of founding is unknown, but in 1571, Fujiwara no Asomi Kodama Bizen-no-Kami Motoyo and Fujiwara no Asomi Yamato-no-Kami Muneyuki became major patrons and rebuilt the shrine buildings. The buildings were subsequently rebuilt in 1672 and 1689. In 1910, eight subsidiary shrines within the village were merged into this shrine.
