Jakkouji Bell Tower
大阪市東淀川区南江口3丁目13
A Nichiren sect nunnery located in Higashiyodogawa Ward, Osaka City, also known as "Eguchi Kundo." It is famous for the legend of Myou, a courtesan who is said to have engaged in a poetic exchange with the monk Saigyou.
History
Founded in 1205 CE (Genkyuu 2) by Myouma Koushi Hihyou Ni, who is also said to be the daughter of Taira no Suemori. The temple burned down during the Genkō Rebellion and the Enmyou Rebellion, but was rebuilt between 1711 and 1716 CE (Shōtoku era) by Fumon Hini, who converted the temple from the Tendai sect to the Nichiren sect.
