新選組の近藤勇の菩提寺として知られ、境内には戦没者慰霊の碑があります。社務所では達筆な御朱印をいただくことができ、受付の対応も丁寧です。境内を出て石神井川沿いにある大きな谷津大観世音菩薩像も、寺の管理下にある見どころの一つです。
