History
Founded in 1648 CE (Keian 1) by Asano Nagaharu, the lord of the Mitsuishi Domain in Bitchu Province, to provide for the Buddhist practice of his mother, Juseiin. The temple was destroyed by fires in 1700 CE (Genroku 13) and 1819 CE (Bunsei 2) but was rebuilt under the protection of the Asano family.
