Tsunkura Shrine
〒580-0046 大阪府松原市三宅中4丁目1−8
A shrine located in Matsubara City, Osaka Prefecture, enshrining the deity Sugawara no Michizane. Many cultural properties related to Tenjin worship remain to this day.
History
It is said that the shrine's lineage dates back to 942 CE (Tenkyo 5), when Sugawara no Michizane was enshrined following a divine oracle received by Shaku Do Ken during a visit in the era of Emperor Suzaku. The site is also said to have been the location of the residence of the Ie clan. It came to be called Tsunkura Shrine from the Meiji era. Additionally, there is a tradition that a shrine called Hie no Yashiro, which enshrined Amaterasu no Himi (the ancestral deity of the Hie clan), existed here in ancient times.
