History
The shrine originated when Minamoto no Yoshinaka, a warrior of the Heian period, established his headquarters in this area and carved a divine image and built a temporary shrine to pray for victory in battle. The shrine buildings were renovated in 1904, 1925, and 1938. They collapsed during the local Great Earthquake of 1948 but were rebuilt in 1958. In 1962, it became a branch shrine receiving a divided spirit from Ishizuchi Hachiman Grand Shrine.
