Founded in 1423 by the priest Nosho. According to tradition, Nosho received a dream revelation from Ennin regarding the burial site of a Fudo Myo-o statue. When the statue was excavated, water gushed out from the spot, forming a waterfall, which marked the beginning of the temple. During the Edo period, the temple was relocated because the site fell within the boundaries of the Konaga pasture, but it returned to its original grounds in the Meiji era.
