History
Around 850 CE (Kajo 3), various deities were enshrined at the Maru-jinja Shrine, which served as the venue for the Yashima Festival held in Enge on the Osaka Bay coast, establishing it as a local Ujigami shrine. In 1594 CE (Bunroku 3), part of the private residence grounds in Funacho was donated, and the shrine was relocated to its current site. During the Edo period, it was renamed Mitaka Shrine. In the Meiji era, the 'Mitaka Bunrakuza' theater was established within the precincts, but it was repeatedly destroyed by fires and the Great Osaka Air Raid. The current shrine buildings were rebuilt in 1957.
