It is said that the area was once inhabited by guards of the Tsunigura (a central granary). A branch spirit of Inari Myojin was enshrined from Yamato Province, and a small shrine was built to house it. In 1907 CE (Meiji 40), the shrine merged with Hakusan Shrine in the southern Tenzan area and Miyano Shrine in the western Saku-no area, and was renamed Tokubashi Shrine.
