Founded during the Bunroku era, the temple was incorporated into the Sanada Maru fortification and destroyed during the Winter Siege of Osaka. It was rebuilt in 1622 CE (Genna 8) by the monk Shiro-mu to mourn the souls of Sanada Yukimura and his son. The temple was burned down in the Great Osaka Air Raid after World War II but has since been restored.
