Established in 1870 with the cooperation of Takashima Kayemon as the Yokohama branch temple of the head mountain Naritasan Shinshoji. It moved to its current location in 1876 and became Naritasan Yokohama Betsuin Enmeiin in 1893. The temple name 'Enmeiin' was transferred from the Enmeiin within the grounds of Shinshoji Temple, where the seventh-generation Ichikawa Danjuro resided when he was expelled from Edo.
