The year of its founding is unknown. It was originally enshrined on Otsuka-zan (Great Mound Hill) within Hibiya Park. During the Keicho era, it was relocated to Shibaguchi (present-day Higashi-Shinbashi) due to the expansion of Edo Castle. In the Meiji era, it moved to Shinbashi 4-chome due to the construction of railway lines. In 2009, because the site was slated for a planned road, it was relocated again to the grounds along National Route 15 in Higashi-Shinbashi 2-chome.
