Founded in 1361 by Nichi-in, this is a Nichiren Shu temple. It bears the mountain name Kouchin-yama, derived from the name of Kouchin, a member of the Hara clan, a prominent vassal of the Chiba clan. It is also known by the common name Hyuugen-bo. In 1816, it was revived by Nichi-ri, during which the halls were rebuilt and the enshrinement of Kishimojin, Daikokuten, and Myoken Bosatsu (Myoken Bodhisattva) was carried out.
