The temple is said to have been founded in 1667 CE (Kanbun 7). A statue of the founder was created in 1677 CE (Enpō 5), and a statue of Lady Maya was created in 1678 CE (Enpō 6). Many of the statues were transferred from Hokke-ji to this temple during the persecution of the Nichiren-shu Fushu-fushi faction. The Maya-do (Maya Hall), where Lady Maya is enshrined, was built during the Tenpō era.
