Shofukuji
長岡市四郎丸4丁目6−21
A Soto sect temple located in Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture. It houses the tomb of Uden Danjuro, the tomb of Myotokuin who served Tokugawa Hidetada, and Suwa Shrine (Suwa Hall).
History
During the Boshin War, the temple was used as the domain's medical facility. In 1869 (Meiji 2), a national and Chinese studies school was established by borrowing the main hall. There is a grave for victims of the 1945 (Shōwa 20) Nagaoka air raids, and a memorial service is held every year on August 1.
